SUBMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED.

Submission guidelines (when open):

Currently seeking: The macabre. The futile. The haunted. The liminal. Dark Entries is seeking speculative and horror-themed poetry and flash fiction, with a focus on substance, atmosphere, narrative, and cinematics. Surreal, experimental, and mixed media pieces are more than welcome—encouraged, even—in addition to traditional form.

Not seeking: The editor quite enjoys her share of extreme horror, but please, don't be edgy for the sake of being edgy.

Logistics: The editor cannot afford to pay contributors, which is why submissions are (and will always be) free. The editor can't even afford an ad-free website; check out that sweet Wix banner.

How to submit: Email up to three pieces (poetry, flash fiction, or a combination of both), attached in a Word doc, to [submissions closed]. We're seeking flash fiction on the shorter side: 500 to 3,000 words (but the shorter the better). Poems may be of any length.

Please include a bio of 50 to 100 words in the body of your email, and feel free to include your favorite piece of speculative media. In addition, provide any social media handles you'd like to share.

Your work is always yours and you may withdraw it from publication at any time. We kindly ask that you do not publish accepted pieces until after they appear in Dark Entries, and that you please credit Dark Entries with first publication if your piece is published elsewhere in the future.

Simultaneous submissions are great, but please, send an email to withdraw a piece if it is accepted elsewhere.

Submissions will be read and posted on a rolling basis—we aim to publish at least one author a week.

Please allow up to two weeks for a response.
